Virtual Private Networks

A Virtual Private Network (VPN) is a network that uses encryption software to create private tunnels through the Internet. A VPN is a cost-effective alternative to an extranet, as it does not require the leasing of dedicated lines.

Once in place, a VPN allows a user with a specific computer to connect to the office server, email, intranet, etc, from any location. In effect, it brings about the option to access all work related computer systems from a computer which is not the office computer. A VPN can be considered as an ‘extension’ of a remote network, and therefore a remote network must also be installed.

Metrowest IT can set-up a VPN to enable remote users to securely access the office network. With a remote network solution, your employees access the company’s network securely from another location.
